Elton Boxed For Burberry

Luxury fashion house Burberry has released a limited edition vinyl collection of six classic albums from Elton John's catalogue, specially chosen by the superstar himself.

Elton Burberry 2The set is the latest example of Elton's long-standing relationship with Burberry, for whom he appeared in their Billy Elliot-inspired festive campaign last year. The box will be highly prized, as it's limited to just 800 units, each individually numbered. Flecked with gold glitter and embossed with Elton's signature, it's available only via Burberry stores in Asia, Europe, the US and Canada and at burberry.com, where you can see more information.

Elton Burberry 3The six albums in the collection are 1970's Elton John, the 1971 live release 17-11-70, the same year's Madman Across The Water, 1975's Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, the 1983 set Too Low For Zero and 2001's Songs From the West Coast. The albums have been remastered by studio master Bob Ludwig and the vinyl cut at London's Abbey Road Studios.

The albums, on 180gm vinyl, are housed in a specially-designed Burberry box, with original artwork and sleeve notes including a Burberry-designed poster. The image selected is one of Elton with his eyes closed, shot in the mid-1990s by revered photographer Terry O’Neill.

“I'm really pleased to see these albums reintroduced in such stylish form,” says Elton. “Choosing these six wasn't easy; however I think they are a very good representation of my catalogue between 1970 and 2001. It's been a pleasure as always to work with Burberry and in particular Christopher Bailey — a dear friend. Producing these albums was a real labour of love for everyone involved.”
